Our School

National Road Elementary School is named after the Historic National Road, one of the first major federally funded highways in the United States and a vital gateway for westward expansion in the early 1800s. Today, the original route is largely followed by U.S. Route 40, which runs directly past our school and through the heart of Zanesville, crossing the city's iconic Y Bridge. Opened in 2005 through the consolidation of Pleasant Grove, McKinley, and Pioneer elementary schools, National Road Elementary proudly carries forward a legacy of connection, progress, and community.
